Time to take a breath and rest.....

We have been travelling since Sunday evening until this afternoon (Tuesday) to reach Ushuaia Argentina, the final destination on this leg of the journey.

Once we were boarded our Sunday night flight from Toronto, we had a 3 hour delay.  As a result, our brief stay in Buenos Aires was shortened.  We arrived at 7:30 pm local time on Monday evening.  The temp was 36C and felt like 44C...hot,hot,hot!

Shuttle, check-in with a room change for 2 beds rather than 1 king, cool shower and something to eat.  This was our first experience with a Spanish menu, waiter and Argentina Pesos.  Not really knowing what we were ordering, we enjoyed our mineral water with no gas,  rolls, chicken breast with cream sauce and swiss cheese, potato balls, rib eye bofe with lettuce, tomato salad, olive oil and balsamic vinegar for $335 pesos.

With a 6:00 am wake-up call and a 7:00 am airport shuttle arranged, we settled in for a short but welcomed night.

We have met four other folks along the way who are also going to the Antarctic but with other tours.
One lady was from Vancouver and her husband is the ships doctor, another lady from Toronto was also on our Toronto to Santiago Chile flight.  She was joining her tour in Santiago.  The other couple, Americans, we met at dinner last night.  They had had their share of bad luck with their flights ( flying Delta) to Buenos Airies due to weather and mechanical delays.  Their Quark Tour was sailing this afternoon and if they had anymore difficulties, they would miss their boat.  They landed just after us, around 1:30 pm local time in Ushuaia and all was well.

The cab ride through Ushuiua brought back memories of Carol and I's cab ride through the  streets of old Puerto Vallarta.  Narrow, steep, uneven with wild drivers. The temperature was 48F, a welcomed change from yesterdays heat.

We are tired...my Mexico ankles are back!  Time to put our feet up and relax/rest/sleep.  We have 48 hours to explore a little of Ushuaia before we set sail with our tour on Thursday afternoon.

Tomorrow will be a new day!
Arrival in Santiago Chile.  Good bye Air Canada
