Exploring Ushuaia.....the city at the end of the world.

Today is free time in Ushuaia Argentina, the city at the end of the world near Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of South America.  We set our alarm for 7:00 am (3 hours ahead of home) so we wouldn't miss out on the complimentary breakfast. It was a continental breakfast, croissants, cheese, ham, toast, waffles, cold cereals, scrambled eggs and hotdogs. The Strong coffee requires some cream and a little sugar and no need for more than seconds.
Now for todays plan....check out the local shops while we make our way to the ATM at HSBC and find the Hotel Albatros, our meeting location for tomorrow at 3:30 pm.  We will then come back to our room for lunch.  All the shops close from 1:30 to 3:30/4:00 in the afternoon so we will use our siesta time to visit the spa. Today is overcast and 10C.  Mom has her underwear on and I have my jacket off...lol. We will go out again this evening.

A few things we have experienced:
  • Mug shot and right thumb fingerprint when we went through Argentina Immigration
  • Luggage and body scans or baggage checks and pat downs on exit from airports
  • A 7 peso cab ride
  • SpanishTV programming, on Channel 34 we found "Friends" and "Big Bang Theory" in english with spanish subtitles.  What more do we need.
  • BBC for news
  • Enjoying CKLQ on the ipad
  • Face-Time with home
  • Beautiful lupins and poppies in bloom
  • Which way is north...good thing we have our compasses along.  No need to blow our whistles yet!
  • When you are tired and been in several hotel rooms over 5 days, it is hard to remember your room number...was it 206 or 208 or 308.  Our key didn't work in any of them.  Oh, it was 207!  I wonder if they have camera surveillance of us trying to find our room?  Good thing they have our mug shots and fingerprints.
